My 1998 2.5 diesel has a problem, overnight the fuel seems to run back to the tank, you can see in the clear section between the filter head and FIP that there's no fuel there and it takes a lot of turning over to get it started, once started it will start fine for the rest of the day. Anyone have any ideas or solutions I would be grateful.

+1 to the above, plus leakey Spill Pipes (Leak Off Pipes) can cause air to get into the system!

Non return valve failed.

I don't think there is a non return valve as standard, mine didn't have one, could be wrong though
