Need some engine flush for our vehicles when servicing, Land rover desperately needs a good flush out and soon.

Any one know what's in engine flush, smells like paraffin to me, I'm sure diesel or something similar would do the job just as well.

Any one use anything other than Engine Flush?

it is paraffin, run it on high detergent oil then drain it

Used to use detergent oil in my old 2.2 pug diesel, engine was as clean as a whistle, took the oil a few months to go dark brown then I changed it.

Cant get it now and wouldn't like to have to buy it;):)

Just hate new oil going black in an engine right after changing it, people say that diesels are always black, well my present saxo diesel has brown oil when you dip it and it stays clean for ages after an oil change.:)

after an oil flush with hydrulic oil, even as in most engines, they use hydrulic lifters, it cleans/flushes them out aswell.
the amount of black crap you then drain is amazing with just a half filled sump of flushing oil..

nearly 300.000 miles on a 1800cvh sierra engine till I sold it on, still sounded really sweet then... every 5000 miles-flush then change oil, only changed oil filter every 10000 miles,
I prooved my method worked not only on that engine but all my hard working engines/cars..

I agree with regular oil changes, our Fiesta van only holds 3 to 4 litres inc the filter and that oil works very hard.
I change oil and filters every month which is about four thousand miles but its still black as coal straight after oil change that's why I was thinking of a good flush out.
Landy gets oil and filters changed every six months which is about three thousand, they say modern oils cope with long intervals but the oil still gets dirty just as quick.:)

Need a nice sunny day:)

Don't need owt like that with a Fender:)

Wouldn't use Screwfix if they were giving it away after they refused to sell me some sockets and a reel of cable because I couldn't prove that I was a qualified sparky:eek:

had the opposite, signed up for their "electrifix" using an out of date cscs card, means I don't have to queue at the normal counter with the public who can sometimes lack the knowledge and experience needed for a speedy in and out.

thats about the right time for a working taxi/minnicab.
I always said
"If I never done 300 miles a night _ I wernt working hard enough"

do the maths gency....

my neighbours kept asking -
why you always working on it (sierra)
said I - coz I work it hard - need to service it regular...

we got a semi retired black cab driver near us, only works friday/ saturday/
and sunday if its busy enough...
had one of them RR looking Metrocabs,
well, the first one had done starship miles when he had to out it,
bought a replacement Metrocab that had done millions of miles too.
it blew its bottom end out the other week :(
but matey in a bit of a quandry, as its "age" is destined for the scrappers early next year..
he`s in his "do I - or dont I" get another engine fitted mode at the moment...

me ?
I`d get another engine at whatever the cost, and run the taxis ass ragged till Its needed to be de-licensed next year...£££....lol...

but then, thats my downfall....lol

Probably because the oils in these newer cars is synthetic .
