When you put the key in the ignition after unlocking, you should see the LED in the FOB flash assuming your car has the passive immobiliser fitted. I have one FOB where that function has failed, I have yet to find out why.
Neither fob flashes so does that mean no passive immobiliser. Both fobs allowing me to get in car and start up, because of this I don't want to mess with anything assume this is the safest thing to do

argh! went to start this morning, ignition on,, brake pump starts, SRS light comes on and lots of beeps, thats it no other lights on the dash and nothing on the LCD display

Ok that wasn't annoying at all.. got home, multi tester on battery, 12.3. not great i know but the fob receiver aerial was still plugged in, who knows what's been going on with RF today
Turned on the ignition to see what voltage drop I get with some load and the dash lights up as normal!!! No issue and started no problems either.
P1667 came back though when I scanned for codes
Am i back to looking for bad connections? Do i need to expand to bad connections to becm etc?

drove to work this morning.. everything went off and engine cut out at 40mph.. that was a fun experience!!
once I stopped, dash came on very faintly, as thought flat battery, then brightened up after a second or 2 with dash complaining about gearbox fault and fuse 6 failure. also pulled code P0600 - I'm assuming these are symptoms of power failure and not issues in their own right. fuse 6 was fine.
Going back to the original idea this is a battery cabling issue (either + or -).. just annoying its so intermittent. I'm getting very little voltage drop between chassis and battery -ve and + to fusebox is OK too

Crispy Main Fusebox? Pop the cover off, does it smell burnt? Any of the relays have a brown tinge to them?
Are all the plugs that go in underneath nice & secure?

Maybe bad connections, but low battery voltage is a big problem.

There should be no detectable volt drop from battery to chassis. A duff alternator can cause similar problems.

I took the fusebox off a couple of months ago to check it out, it looked in very good condition although I wasn't able to strip it completely but no discolouration or smell I could see. the plugs were ok and the spade connectors were not corroded

maybe I should take it off again and give it some more inspection? last time, i took the fuses/relays out and took the cover off but wasn't able to remove it to look underneath, felt well jammed and didnt want to crack it while forcing it out

There's an electrical troubleshooting guide on RR.net. I'd work my way through that in the first instance.
