Got me a spare second key the other week, got it cut to fit etc, just needs programming now.

I tried it and got the engine disabled as I knew I would having not had it programmed.

Dads got the other key at the moment, and he is going to move the rangie down his over the weekend whilst I am away.

Will it just start straight up off the usual programmed key????

OR

Do I need to do the EKA etc, if I do does it matter which key I do it off? ie will the EKA work off the unprogrammed key as thats the one I have got on me and then start off the other programmed one.

Cheers

James

If I recall correctly, you can use the EKA when the battery dies in the keyfob, if that's the case, then there is no reason why you can't use the EKA to get you going. I would be inclined to remove the 2 batteries from the unprogramed key fob before trying this first though. You have nothing to lose by trying.

If you got the new key from Land Rover it will come programmed. You will just need to sync it to your vehicle.
If you got it off ebay or such like ,then it cannot be programmed/sync to your vehicle.

Yes key is cut to car, and its only as an emergency spare, So I will be able to input the EKA code into the drivers door then start her up off the unprogrammed key.

No, having used it to do EKA try ign, but will prolly say Disabled & won't start. Put key in lock, turn to Lock, press n hold lock button. Release, turn to unlock then press n hold unlock button. Should now be in Sync and start car!

If a flebay job,it won't work at all Jay! Gotta be CUT to car!!

Yes its a second hand fob that I was given, that I put an new blade in and had cut to match my origional one.

SO unless I take it Land Rover or similar its never going to start the car, is that what we are saying ???

Can confirm with JohnP38 as the full key set when supplied new is 2 alarm/keyfob keys and one emergency key that is just a standard key, no alarm or keyfob.
