Afternoon All,

Need to do an engine coolant flush on the old girl since the run in, get rid of all the nasty bits.
Rookie here, so bear with. I have some extended life land rover anti freeze in the workshop, as I try and put in everything top notch. Is there a certain type of coolant that is best for the flush? I just some purified water too, about 10L of the stuff.

Thanks in advance

J

SIDE NOTE: I was going to change the system to a waterless Evans cooling system, anyone done this before, is it worth it or just extra expense for not a lot of difference in terms of function?

Evans stuff is like reinventing the wheel trying to solve a problem that was done a century ago. Water based coolant = top up from the tap if you need to = cheap + convenient.

Few folks I know run half a dish washer tab in there to clean it all up drain, rinse a few times and fill with regular Blucol or any regular coolant.

Smashing, thanks for the tip. I thought it was an unnecessary measure. cheers.

*Caution* Though it's not a 200TDi, I've ran a small amount of CLR (calcium, lime and rust) cleaner and water through my V8 engine for a quick coolant system flush and then thoroughly flush the system with just distilled water. It's amazing how much crap is in there!

**EDIT** I noticed CLR isn't sold over here but the equivalent is Zep or HG professional cleaners. It's safe on aluminum as long as you don't leave it stagnant in the system for hours. That is when you'll run into engine trouble.
