Hello everyone,
I have a SIII Dormobile that has a V8 engine conversion. I am considering switching to a diesel because I am planning on putting a significant amount of miles on over the next few years. I called Richard at Glencoyne about his 200di conversion but he is booked solid. Does anyone know someone else who is reliable that may be willing to do a 200di or tdi conversion this month? Failing that, does anyone know a reputable/reliable garage in East Anglia that I can trust to service the V8? Thanks.

funny yu shud say that - i was just gonna suggest yu - as yu dun it before many times;).

i was going to offer, but seeing as he's so far away and as i am up to me neck in work for meself i doubt he'd want to wait the 2 months i am currently telling peeps

wheres pat live maybe now he's an eggspurt he might care to do it ?

Safari engineering do it, aparently, as a drive-in, drive out jobby fur 2K and that includes the engine - which i reckon aint too bad, to have no hassles.

there's someone on ebay that apparently does it for £1500

i will have to start charging more

And what about converting it to LPG ? I wondered into an Aussie forum where one of their members had just converted a V8 Petrol to LPG.

One of my middle-term projects is getting me a Stage 1 and convert it to LPG, if I ever manage to find one here in Portugal!

Thanks to everyone for the advice,

I should clarify a few things. LPG is not an option for me as I will be travelling out of the country to Europe and some possibly Africa so I don't want to hunt for fuel. (It also precludes using the chunnel to cross the channel) Also I am not sure about the space restrictions for the tank in a dormobile.

I would really like to do the conversion myself but I do not have a shop, all my tools are in Canada (I am Canadian) and I simply don't have the time at the moment. Any idea on what a good 3.5 V8 is worth? Thanks again.

3.5 EFI, or 3.5 Carburetted?

Dont have a clue what EFI is worth, But a good Duel carb version can be worth anything up to £400, £550 with Conversion plate  Then again I have seen them sold for £200 ith the full conversion kit at sort outs

Just checked with Safari Engineering...£2600 for a 200tdi swap into a SIII! Ouch.

that's their way of saying we really dont want to do this job but if you have got more money than sense we want lots of it orf you

i'd do it for £1800 ish ;) and include a couple of spare half shafts

Thanks for the offer Sean, do you have an email address or phone number that I could use to contact you? Cheers.
