I was told recently that the petrol engine in my landy is a military one because it's painted light blue. Is this right?????

Or someone wanted it to look like a MOD engine and painted it. They also painted them light green.

Duck egg blue is the correct colour, some girl on ebay sells it, its an enamel, and can take the heat without peeling off, if your interested i can point you in the right direction if you want to buy some

the red 2.25 is a recon block , tis just redoxide primer sprayed on, heads prob black , that dont mean anything, my 2.5 diesel is redoxide , bout 1986 ? reme based rebuilds were duck egg blue ,

I have seen a gold block, think it was on a diesel, don't know what or if it means anything at all, but it was a good runner, and had a copper fuel tank on it too, wasn't mine though, was sent to the scrappy the chassis was fubar

Colour means nothing. Most engine reconditioners will paint the engine to make it look nice, and use whatever colour they like.

yeah i found that,

i do all my rebuilds in clear coat now, tis kinda pricey but looks good, better than red oxide etc !

I remember it was a good runner, couldn't get shot of the whole Landy, every one wanted bits of it, and it was at the side of the road, so i had to scrap the whole lot, shame
