Engine block

1998 disco 300tdi, i overheated and think engine is knackered.deep scatches in cylinders 2 and 3. i've seen an engine block online of a 1997 300tdi defender. Are the blocks both the same of the disco and defender?? i was gonna buy the block (with pistons and crank all ready in it) and swop everything over to the new block. will that work.

Might be quicker/easier to replace the whole lump

same engine only injection system and temp senders vary, so you can strip it as little or as far back as you want to fit your own parts

thanks guys for your input. i'm gonna buy the block and swap the parts over as i'm not busy for the next week so time isn't an issue.
