Engine blip at high revs

I was running late this morning and as I pulled away from a roundabout on a dual carriageway I put my foot down. The car accelerated and then as the revs rose it seems to momentarily lose power and then the power picked up again.

I would say the "blip" was just below 3000 revs. As I looked behind I could see the "blip" had caused the car to kick out some smoke.

Can anyone give me some ideas what, apart from accelerating hard, caused this and if there is anything I should check?

Thanks as always

Mine does this also. It used to do it without fail everytime just before the TC locked up at 53MPH and about 2800 RPM.

Ive replaced everything that should cause it, but it still does it.
I spent an hour yesterday fully air bleeding the fuel system, and its a little improved. Now its not every time, just occasionly

Things to check are..

Wastegate modulator
Wastegate actuator (check its free moving)
Wastegate hoses (check for split pipes)
FPR (check for leaks)
Fuel pump
Turbo/intercooler hoses (check for leaks)
Injector loom
Red ECU plug for oil contaminate
Fuel filter
Non return valve in fuel filter housing
MAF sensor
MAP sensor (take it off and give it a good clean as it get gunged up)

Sounds like either the wastegate modulator, or the pipework to it !

As has been said, check this out.
