Disco 2 Engine Acoustic Cover

Besides the obvious, does the Disco TD5 acoustic engine cover serve any other purpose? I had a new clutch master cylinder fitted today and it was right up against the engine cover. The result of this was serious vibration in to the cabin, so I have removed the cover, to find that the vibration has gone and the engine sounds no louder.

It has thermal isolation purpose too

So am I likely to cause any damage to the surrounding components in the engine bay by leaving it removed?

Not in the winter but the engine might run cooler if it's cold outside and that affects consumption

engine cover or cover over bell housing ,if it vibrated after refitting it wasnt fitted correctly,but wont hurt if its missing
