emptied fuel tank on m1

hi dont know if anyone else has had a problem like this going along the m1 today at 70mph and was pipped by a passing car the woman passenger wound down her window so i did the same to be told i had a diesel leak so after a quick thank you i pulled over jumped out to find about a litre of fuel on the floor and fuel spraying every where so quick turn off to avoid a flood and preserve some fuel called out recovery i thought one of the fuel pipes was split anyway recovery arrives we have a quick look and find out the washer on the bottom of fuel filter was split through brilliant serviced last week the w n k rs
we managed a running repair with the aid of a sump plug washer i think there will be a few words with the garage.
