Me and the Mrs are thinking of moving to Fuerteventura and, I want to take my P38, we have been holidaying there for the last 10 years and Ive not seen any there, so buying one would not seem to be an option, Ive worked out a route to drive there but, most of the journey approx 3 days, would be spent at sea, this is not a problem but am I mad or what, I know Tomcat Alan lives there some of the year, maybe he or anyone who has moved abroad could advise, thanks in advance ANDY.

Spain can be a bit of a bugger for re registering the car, other than that, why not? I have a UK P38 in France, the Canaries are part of the EU so you are entitled to take all your goods and chattels and that includes cars that you have owned for more than 6 months.
I can tell you how to mod the headlights if you do go.:D

My father in law has exported his UK Renault to Marbella for his retirement.

There are a lot of Brits in Marbella, but he found a british mechanic (out there) that took care of the whole process for him. Changed his lights, registered it, first MOT, all of that stuff.

You might find someone similar in Fuerteventura.

MOT every two years I think too!

Thanks for the replies, it certainly is do-able although, I havent worked out the finer details yet, cost, ferry timings etc, will keep you posted.
