Elm327

Hello gentlemen,
For my freelander TD4 2003, i just bought a ELM327 CODE SCAN TOOL OBDII OBD2 SCANNER ...seems does not work very well. The only software which works is scanmaster which is able to recognize some features of my car with the settings: baud= 38400 bps, protocol iso 9141-2
I suppose i did not buy the right one.
Any advice ?

Halfrauds do a "Rover" error code reader. I dont know if this reads freelander fault codes or, for that matter, if it is any good. Just passing the info on.

I was thinking that scantool will work but the 2.00 version tells me that "poor elm is not longer supported (because cloned elm)...maybe an older version would work, but i can't get one...
Are there here people who are using an elm327 ...what scantool calls a "cloned" one from china?
