Hi,
My Puma 2.2 needed a boost start after standing idle too long.
When I was driving off I noticed the " Engine Malfunction " warning lamp was on, all seems okay though,
engine running well, no other issues.
I know nothing about electronics, being strictly " Old School ",

Can any of you advise me on this please ?
Brylton.

Hi and welcome to the Looney-Zone.

This section is the introduce-yrself area.
For the best answers and the most rapid response try putting your question in the relevant vehicle section. :D

Ideally you should follow the battery disconnect procedure (read up in your owners handbook) and recharge the battery off the vehicle. After refitting the battery it is normal for the engine management light to come on for the first few miles while the engine management resets itself. It should not come on at the next start up.

Hi, Thanks for the advice, I'll see what happens in the morning , gone, I hope.
I see what you mean regarding disconnecting the battery, but I am loath to do this as settings would be lost, and I am not sure how to reset things.
Actually in this case the battery wasn't disconnected, jump leads were used.
Cheers, Bry.

The reason for following the correct disconnect procedure is so the important settings are not lost. But after reconnection the management system needs to reset some functions, this is normal. Personally I would avoid boost starting as there is a risk of fkn things up.
