Electronic dizzy....

I do remember them being trouble on my old cars, and especially on motorcycles, I had a Suzuki GT550 that had three sets of points! :(

But the main reason I am going to get one is because of the capacitors, (condensers), which fail for a pastime, and I think are even worse than the old ones.

I am going to go with the Accuspark complete unit as well, can't be bothered fitting new electronics on a worn old unit.
as many know, I am not much when it comes to electronics but recently in both cars and white goods condensers seem to be a weak point

Weber. I've stripped, cleaned and replaced everything on it
We have Solex, which I have rebuilt with a carb kit, but still needs some improvement. It is very smooth and powerful when it is running right, and doesn't need any modification to the choke cable.

Another area that I have been told causes problems is the plugs, modern plugs, even in the right grade, are not that good for older engines.
I went with NGK, and they seem to be OK so far.

Electronic ignitions sometimes need different plugs. Think this is for fast road/continuous wide throttle openings
Mmm, maybe new spark plugs anorl then.
It's on a bog standard choke cable cos at the mo I'm to to tight to pay 100 quid for the proper cold start cable

The choke cable, and the adaptor block, which seemed to be another 100 quid, was one of the reasons I decided to stay with Solex.

Having said that, the spacer block between the Solex carb and the manifold is much thinner than it should be, and appears to have welded itself to the manifold over time, so I guess I will have to look into getting one of those at some stage.

If I ever suspect a problem with fuel lines, the tank or the pump, I bypass the lot and rig up a fuel container gravity fed straight to the carb. If there is still a problem, it is going to be either the carb or ignition.

I don't suspect there is much of a problem with any of it, because it starts, and runs reasonably well.
And I think the same applies to @Marmaduke's motor.

But there is always room for fine tuning and improvement. :)
