Electrics / everything dead ! help please !!

Hi Guys,

Took landy out today, (90 defender 200 with 300 tdi engine) everything fine. Got in this evening just to reverse it to park it for the night. Started on the button, switched lights and spots on as was peeing down, reversed slowley, engine and everything else has just died. No side lights, no ignition lights, nothing. Have checked all battery connections, fuses. Have got 12 volts upto the thicker brown wire on the middle yellow relay under the fuses ( have 3 relays, yellow, yellow, green. swaped them and tapped them, still nothing)

I also took a live via bit of wire from the + battery to one of the fuses and everything comes on and starter motor cranks.

Seems like feed is breaking down somewhere but I cant find what it might be,

Need some help please !!!!!! Any ideas ??

check the connection at the back of the starter, where all the wires join together.

ye i would also do that and also check you dont have any corroded up fuses or grounds

is the oil light on? if so (and also possibly if not!) it's the ignition switch - try having a fiddle with it. Mine (particularly for some reason on cold mornings) is a bit loose and has a setting where only the oil pressure light comes on and no other electrics work, but a quick play around with the key and it's sorted!

Thanks chaps....Yep. Tried all that. Ran a wire from the starter motor to the ignition barrel just so i could use it today. everything works fine. Just cant seem to find where the 'break' is. Grrrrrrrrr !!!
