Electrical problems

Was at a pay and play site today when I got proper stuck and was winching hard for about 5-6mins
during this I have blown all indicator bulbs (side repeaters fine tho)
the heated rear screen is stuck on and the radio stopped working and lastly the windows stopped working, have replaced the window ecu and still the same
any thing that links all this together?

wheres the rear screen relay for a start as that the biggest problem, as i reckon i can prob just rewire the rest if I can't find the faults

Any help is much appreciated

oh and also blew the main alternator fuse although it only had a 60 amp fuse fitted instead of the 100amp it should have had

upski any tests I can do before i rewire the windows

oh and now the fan heater motor has stopped working as well

When a multiple circuits fail at once it sometimes indicates a blown fuseable link have you checked them?

have replaced the fuse links that had blown, sorted it now...... i think the rear screen is the relay had stuck open so a good old whack sorted it sort of (will be replacing it anyway) after doing through a few wiring diagrams I found a burnt wire so chopped it out and replaced it it was the ignition live to the windows that was the main problem and have also replaced 7-8 fuses including the radio and cb ones as they had also gone pop, its all sorted now just hoping it was all down to the winching so have ordered a 2nd battery and split charger to run the winch

where is the winch fed from?

straight off main battery

sounds like you could use a second battery for the winch

Hi, anyone came across an electrical issue where all your headlights, radio dies and dash lights dim when all when handbrake is let off. Guessing earth issue. Any inputs will be good to save me losing more hair :doh:

The battery is using the Handbrake as an earth cable. check all ya earths and make sure they are clean and secure. I had to completely strip out and resolder a huge chunk of wiring harness after a friends disco melted it's harness due to the same problem. He was very lucky that whole car didn't go up in flames.

But it's all sorted now and with the extra battery and split charger it shouldn't (better not)do it again!
