hi I've only owned my defender for two weeks and when I bought it it needed a alternator which the previous owner must of known about considering everything that came with it was pluged on the advert CD player CB radio volt meter etc etc but when I got there he had unplugged everything which I found strange but bought it any way after realising it needed a alternator etc any way I've managed to rewire the CD player CB radio etc but can I heck figure out these spot lights they two sets of wires all the spot lights or linked togtger and they run down the window and look like they separate off to two black relays and then a yellow and green wire separate from there to a red relay behind them question is what am I missing to make them work as the only thing I can physically see that's been removed is the earth strap on top of the lighting bar also sidelights work headlights work flash works but when you go to keep it on permanent all lights how out except side lights could Thai have anything to do with it thanks

Sounds like somebody got a bit over-excited wiring the lights through the beam switch. I'd rip it all back to original and google up a wiring diagram. T'ain't complicated, and that way you know it works, and why.
Seems pretty normal to run the lights in pairs so you don't overload any individual relay, but unless you've got a faulty beam switch or over-rated headlamp bulbs, something's wrong with Mr Falternator's electrics.

I was just goner rip it all out and wire to a live and Earth at a switch but it's not my work so it's hard to decifer what's suppose to go anywhere if it were new stuff they would be on and working by now lol I just tho it might be something really simple

Rip it all out and use the switch to feed a relay, it'll keep the load off the main lighting switch and save you a bunch of hassles ...

What kind of relay though sorry for all the questions it's just undoing some else's work and not knowing if I unplug the wires if it will effect anything else
So I need a live a relay a switch and a earth and the lights in paralell

There is a lot of posts on here about modifying existing headlight systems ...
Also for wiring in spot lights and driving lights ...
Even taking wires to the rear of the vehicle for work lights and other feeds ...

You may need to do some searches and stage your work according to how you wish to proceed with it ...

Good luck ...
