I have an old C reg 90 which is suffering some very weird electrical problems - the lights sometimes work but then the left hand side (front and back) will cut out. When you engage reverse gear the fog light comes on and the indicators have stoppoed working altogether.

I guess it must be an earth fault but not sure where to start looking - any suggestions gratefully received.

Squirm.

Look anywhere where wires pass the body/chassis. Also try the rear inside the arches, and also the small enclosures around your brake/side lamps, wires can pinch between the body and enclosure

Start at the front left. Check all the connectors and earths. Move to rear left etc

Also check the main earthing straps.
