Good morning, could any kind person please give me a few pointers, I suspect it will be difficult.
When I brake all rear lights are on which is normal, if I put my side/dipped headlights on all rear lights are normal but if I have my side lights on and then brake one of the side lights goes out (which it shouldn't) and no brake light comes on, the remaining two rear lights act normal. I have checked the wires on the back of the socket where the bulb plugs in and wiggled the wires but to no avail. Any suggestions would be most grateful received. Thank you in anticipation. B.

It'll probably be the ground point at the bottom of the pillar. There's a ground point each side, for the lights on that side.
Firstly, thank you very much for your reply.

Please excuse my ignorance but where exactly is this pillar, and what does it look like? Is it somewhere behind the lens assembly or is it underneath the car on the corner somewhere. I am retired and as you have gathered I don't know much about cars so living on a state pension and going to a garage is not a first option. Sorry to appear unknowledgeable. Thank you in anticipation. B.

The pillars I was referring to are the 2 pillars each side of the rear door. They keep the roof from the floor;)

At the bottom of each, behind the plastic trim is a grounding point. It's a 6mm threaded grounding point. A nut clamps all the ring connectors together, so where all the grounds locally are linked. So any problem with lights doing strange things, can often be attributed to ground faults.

Many, many, thanks indeed for taking the time and trouble to help me out I'm extremely grateful. All the very best to you, have a great good year. B.
