Head lights were utter crap so I bought a nice new pair with clear lenses and bright bulbs etc. fitted them then the indicators started playing up.Next I removed about 20 ft of household extension cable the previous owner had integrated into the dash board for everything from speakers to spot lights.. Indicators start working again.
Next time out the headlights are all over the place doing strange things with the switch positions. I found a broken earth wire which fixed the problem other than a blown main beam.

Happy days.

Next thing the bl&@dy indicators ain't working again. I'm hoping now its the hazard switch that's faulty so got one on order.

Owning a defender is deffo a love hate thing.

It is, but we love em anyway. I've pulled quite a few feet of household cable out of mine :confused: it was used to bodge the rear lights but I can't figure out why as I wired them up correctly and everything works fine. Some people just don't have a scooby and should be kept away from everything vehicle related.

define stopped working. Do you get any feedback on dash? If not, take a look at the hazard switch. Mine stopped working and ended up being a loose wire around hazard switch.

Ok so, what's the difference between a standard 4 pin relay and the flasher unit for 5 times the price?

I changed the flasher unit for a standard relay and it worked ok.....for a while. Does the defender need the flasher unit prc8876?

I am dusting off my dunce cap and picking a corner to stand in for when the replies come in
:eek::):(

4 pin relay is a relay, a flasher unit has a bimettalic strip (or an electronic timer unit) to give the flash on/off for the indicators.
swapping one for the other wouldnt give the desired results.
