Electrical fault I think 200tdi

hi little help please my 90 didn't come with a CD player so I took the head unit out of my fourtrak known good unit and wired it up 3 wires to lives one to each red blue yellow either lives or ignition lives and black to earth wired speakers in and they crackle and pop and distort at 21 volume out of 35 so I tho ****ed speakers went and got some new ones 150w with tweeters wired them in pretty much exactly the same
Check the wires and there was 12 v at the wires but it would fluctuate with how high you had the volume the higher you went the less Volts showing and eventually CD player would go into protect mode

Now I no there only the two 4 inch speakers but do I have a power issue and has anyone had this and over come this problem thanks

You have either got a poor connection or the power cables are not rated at a high enough current rating for the head unit. The higher the volume the higher current the head unit will take, if you have poor connections that current manifests itself as a voltage drop which can then cause the issues you have. Try a heavy gauge cable from the batt -ve post to the case of the head unit, if that cures it then you need to look at condition / size of -ve cable. Likewise try a power lead direct from batt +ve to head unit power input and see what happens. Could be a combination of all wiring as it isn't that heavy a gauge to start with.

Hi I've tried this also live from the battery I put it straight to the yellow and red and black to negative same issue accurs it has me puzzled as if I wore it back into the fourtrak it works no problems at all

Was the engine running at the time? You could be getting interference.

If not, replace the speaker wiring (make sure that you get positive/negatives right). Your test on the speaker wires is a bit meaningless, and the head will go into protect mode when you don't have the right load attached.

Was the fourtrack wired with earth wired speakers? I always wire speakers with twin cable back to the head unit, less chance of interference/issues.

Hi I have changed all the cable that runs to the speakers same issue and I have tried it engine running engine stoped there +\- or all perfect and as for the fourtrack speakers I have no idea they were just standard speakers and wiring it in took 10 mins if that and it was perfect ever since its really annoying that I don't seem to be able to fix this I think I will end up just buying a amp and running them through there but I shouldn't have to considering it's only two 4 inch speakers with new wiring and correct terminals and the CD player has power and if it was underpowered it still did the same connected directly to the battery I am all out of ideas

It may be an impedance matching issue. It's just possible the Fourtrack speakers are a higher impedance than the units you have fitted in the Landy. Your new speakers may be 4 or 6 Ohm, and the FourTrak may be 8 or higher. There is a corresponding resistance/impedance load within the unit. If the new speakers have a lower impedance, they will be overloaded at anything over low volumes. You could also damage the head unit.

Do you get the same problem with it on radio and cd? Are you working on the car next to an interference source (fridge/neon lamps etc)? Might something in the car being causing interference?

Got tierd of trying to work it out so I've fixed the issue and gone for a amp and sub and wired speakers to that and perfect intact it's pretty good quailty thanks for the help tho
