Hi wonder if any one can help. 96 Disco 300tdi, the electric windows in the rear do not open using the controls on the rear doors but they open fine from the centre consol. Also the rear electric sunroof wont open from front or rear controls just appears dead! All fuses are fine.
Wondering if its a fualt with the ECU, possible broken solder??
Any help much appreciated

Windows= check switches in rear door panels arnet disconnected/gunked up with crap.

Sunroofs= may have been sealed shut and disconnected if previous owner had water ingress, or again, could be dirty switches.

Easy enough to check out!

Welcome to the forum ;)

Yep, go with Ka0s.

When I got my 300TDi, the rear windows wouldn't open. Took the door cards off and cleaned the connections. Worked for a week then packed up again due to bad solder. Easy enough to fix if that's the case.

Hurrah!, decided to have a look at the ecu before pulling of door cards, so followed instructions on another site to get to the ecu behind the glovebox. Took me a good ten mins to pull off the bottom clip (wimp!) got to the ecu and realised i could only take it out by undoing another 2 bolts, which i decided against as i had to get to work, so i stuffed everything back where it belongs and put the glovebox back on. Thought i'd check the windows again anyway, and guess what..... they now work!
Sunroof still a duffer although you can hear the switch clicking now when pressed to operate it. Think i'll get the ecu out properly and check the solders failing that i'll get a new sunroof motor.

hehehe well congratz on ur novel way of fixing it! id suggest maybe a bad connection on the ECU or failing solder joints as u said, if they fail again!

Yeah this problem is ussualy a cracked solder joint on the window ECU under the passenger side dash, quick fix with an iron.
