1994 300 ES Rear windows dont work, fronts do.Previous owner says could be some sort of control box . Is this correct and where do i find it and can i test it ?

I have just read about this being dry joints on a circuit board, and an easy fix,

Do a search on here and you should find it.

I will have a look later but have gotta go to work now.

I know this may be a kinda obvious question, but in your centre console by the window switches is a over ride button to stop the rear windows working. This button isn't pressed down is it, which would stop the rears working? Or maybe the connector has worked loose on the back of this?

Do the rear windows work using the rear electric wondow switches, or the front mounted rear electric wondow switches?

Have you checked the fuse?

Sorry for the stupid questions, but some folk don't check the really, really obvious stuff first. Admittedly, me included, (sometimes).

Rears do not work by using either front switches or rear door switches, lock out button checked as well.Only had the motor since last saturday,so still working my way around. Are the front motors fused independant to the rears?Where are the fuse boxes.I know i sound stupid but i am on a disco learning curve.

mine stopped working a while ago and I traced it to a fuse under the passenger seat (not in the manuals etc). So no idea what's going on with my dodgy disco!

Mine is a 1996 Disco XS, so it does without many of the toys yours has. On mine there is one large fuseboard between the steering wheel and the pedalbox, located behind a large flip down panel. This can be undone with a couple of large flat bladed screwdrivers. Remember to pull your seat all the way back or you wont have the room to unscrew it.

Another smaller fuseboard is located by the battery. This is hidden under a small black cover.

According to the 'Haynes book of bull****', the electric front window fuse is located at the upper auxillary fuse panel under the sttering wheel. it is fuse NO;1 and is 30amp. The rears are located ast the same place, but NO;2. Again 30amp.

There is also a fuse for the "electric windows, central locking and rear blower motor" located at the engine compartment NO;11.

The rear electric window relay is located "behind drivers footwell side panel, (yellow wiring connector).

Like I said, this info is from 'The Haynes book of bull****', so dont take it as gospal.

Thank you all,i am testing the disco with my caravan this weekend,so i will have to have an electrical mooch about the weekend after.I have no doubt the relax will be needed to tackle the next round of "sort it out". LOLThanks all.

hi bishen, if ur electric mirrors arent working then its more than likely the fuse number 18 under the steering wheel. Hope this helps. David
