The Eluminator electric crate motor is expected to be the first of its kind to be engineered, developed and offered by an original equipment manufacturer - it is similar to the e-motors applied on the 2021 Mustang Mach-E GT, and will be available from Ford Performance Parts (M-9000-MACHE).
Weighing in at a svelte 205 pounds, this electric dynamo delivers 281 horsepower, 317lb.-ft. of torque, and generates a maximum speed of 13,800rpm. The Eluminator crate engine package includes a high-voltage motor-to-traction invertor harness, low-voltage harness connector, and vent tube assembly.

The irony is delicious.
Not only the mining but the short service life and the inability to fully recycle the batteries. From my workings, battery electric cars actually produce more pollution than a modern diesel when you look at the way electricity is generated, transformer losses, transmission line losses and rectification losses in the car, not to mention the excessive weight of battery cars, more weight = less fuel efficiency. The only plus is that the move the pollution out of town:rolleyes:
 
aah "infrastructure" . . .haven't the bods in Westminster already delayed their rollout of charging points for their leccy revolution ? And power companies going bust all over are not gonna update the grid to cope.

I say +1 on Hydrogen.

Different kind of power companies. The ones that are going bust are just re-sellers.
The ones that work on the grid are DNOs, or Transco in the case of the high tension network.
 
What's the BECM +autobox ecu gonna think of that:confused: Although probably dont need the auto box..
Let alone all the other elctrickery:).

I am all for being good to the planet, but right now I will stick with what I have thanks:).

I still think the only sensible option is hydrogen. The stuff goes bang so damn quick but modern injectors and maybe a slightly different head and you could convert most cars like you do for LPG. After that there's fuel cell technology for new cars. All it needs is the infrastructure.

+1 to that, even carburated cars could be converted to Hydrogen.. The UK does not have the in house generating capacity to keep the lights on in winter let alone charge electric cars. What madness that the politicians have ended up making the UK dependent on France and Norway just to keep the lights on:rolleyes:

There's a vid on the tube from Harry's Garage, where Lord Bamford explains that JCB have converted their own engine from derv to H2 - including the fuel storage systems etc, and it appears to work well .... right up to the point that the hydrogen has to be made using electricity ...... so, yet another loss in the rather extensive chain..

Genuinely seems to me at this point that the best thing to do with all this green house CO2 is to find a way of sequestering it with some clever technology - NOT to scrap everything that has gone before for the good of large corporations.

The means of producing Hydrogen are developing. I agree scrapping perfectly good vehicles is nonsense.
To me, the main problem is overpopulation.

Hydrogen is **** easy to make from sea-water. Stick a large turbine in the North Sea and you're away. The articial reef created is great for fish too. Germany and many other countries have seen rhis and are investing heavily. The UK? Er, wait and see and then pay theough the nose forever more thereafter.
