EKA Code

Hi All, Ive just bought a Defender 110 2005 as Ive always wanted one. its done 112.000 kms.
Thing is the last owner had no Idea it had an immobiliser and just thought the key fob was to open and close doors. He knows of no security card (EKA) and is not very helpful. If this is not true and it does have an immobiliser Ive got a few questions.
How do I get this 4 digit number?
Why do i get a double sound from the horn when I lock it with the fob? and not the indicators flashing?
Why if i lock it with a key does it lock all doors and then immediately unlock them again?!?

Get hold of a Nanocom Evolution to make changes to the Defender's BCU for system security.
There are some cheaper diagnostic scanners that allow to read/change the Land Rover's EKA 4-digit code. I have done this with my Foxwell NT510 (now NT520) on my Disco 2 and a friend's RR.

That could be because the fob battery is nearly dead and needs changing. Details of how to change the battery and resynchronise the fob are in the owners handbook. Main dealer will provide the EKA if you provide them with the vin number and proof of vehicle ownership. Might take a while to get it as the dealer will need to get it from JLR.

Check that the under bonnet alarm switch is in an upright position, if any of the doors or the bonnet are not closed properly the alarm gives a bouble beep, it is very common that the bonnet switch is leaning over slightly and not making full contact with the bonnet, it is on the bulkhead near the clutch master cylinder and has a rubber cover. If that does not sort it check the door light switches are working ok, the rear door switch has a bracket fixed to the door that may need bending out slightly to make full contact with switch.
The key not locking the doors is because of the same thing, its saying a door or bonnet is open.
