Gents, any advice before I loose my mind trying to input my EKA code. Tried a few times in batches of three attempts can cannot get the bloody jeep to give me two magic beeps to let me know immobiliser is off.

Example of what I am doing; if the code is 1A1A I assume you turn the key to open for 5 secs, get a beep, then turn forward for one turn, back to top centre = 1 then turn back to lock which is first turn and then 9 more turns each one back to top = A. Then turn forward for 1 turn back to top (will open car and back to top) =1 then back to lock for one turn and 9 more turns all back to top = A. then wait for two beeps. Have only got one bloody beep.

any foolproof ways or techniques to do this? thanks John

PS its a 2001 TD5 disco

Hi John , sounds your doing it right to me . Just don't rush it when counting the turns I said the word AND, between every number as I did mine. In an attempt to pace it right . Have you made shaw the code right for the car .

Thanks, will try. was doing it a bit quickly. Got code off LR dealer and asked them to double check so should be good. regards John

Your better of going slower than fast . And when you get the two beeps remember not to go jumping right in . I used my iPhone stopwatch to time the 5 minutes cuz it feels a long time standing there looking in at that led to stop flashing . Then you got 30sec to get the ignition turn on , once the keys in you can turn it off and on as much as you like , you only have to start again if you remove the key from the ignition for more than 30sec.

Here's a reminder from the handbook

Are you sure they gave you the right code as when I went to dealers for mine the lad in the parts dept said to his mate whats $ letter mean and he said so and so number.Good job I was in ear shot as he was treating A as 11 -B as 12 - C as 13.He was wrong hexadecimal numbers are 1 to 9 then letters A=10,B=11,C=12 and so on hope that helps

Thanks for all the help, really appreciate, this site is a super support for LR owners. Also have a boxster and joined forum thinking it would be similar to this one but bast#%ds on there will not offer any support or have any good debates. Kudos to landyzone!,

After work this evening back to eka code fun......

if no joy even with more patience(dont forget to let it rest 10 minutes after a failed attempt), there is the possibility that the previous owner changed the EKA to be easyer for him(as i did with mine = card's pin-code) ...then you must read it from the BCU...though if it's immobilised the tester might not comunicate with it... i dont envy you if the car is immobilised...your only chance remains to make the fob to work then
