Hi Eightinavee (or anyone out there with any ideas on this);

Ok - so do you remember my interesting starting issue (i.e., turn the key until pre-ignition lights come on dash array - wait a two seconds then crank = starts right away [otherwise no start if you just stick the key in crank and try and go])? Here's the latest installment on this: i.e. in my pursuit of instant and proper engine starting I did some more research and decided to change out the tps and the fuel regulator. Procedure and results are as follows:
1.) disconnect power supply (battery)
2.) remove annoying rear engine coil paks so that one can get at fuel reg bolts
3.) bleed off fuel pressure in fuel rail via shrader valve
4.) r&r fuel reg
5.) r&r tps
6.) re-connect coil paks assembly
7.) re-connect power supply (battery)
8.) try a normal instant start on the engine
9.) no instant start so try pre-ignition pause routine - engine starts
10.) idle rpms go to 1500 and stay there for a while
11.) stop engine to reset and start again same thing
12.) rpms slowly come down to 900 but not to the standard of 700
13.) smell of petrol between restarts but that goes away (i.e., does not happen if I go through the enhanced pre-ignition start routine)
14.) our old friend the p1179 code returned briefly (this dissappeared after a thorough cleaning of the K&N air filter and filter is still clean right now)
15.) a small increase in acceleration power is noticeable
16.) I still get the occasional catalyst efficiency sub-standard codes - i.e., PO430 & PO420 - but this does not occur regularly or even that often (I should add that I have no cats in the exhaust line as they were removed to accomodate custom exhaust header setup)
17.) petrol mileage is really in the toilet right now as well (thus prompting my latest attempt to fix starting issue)

Previously, I had considered the possibility of the fuel pump going soft but the pressures were good (testing off of Shrader valve).

My other speculations would include: r&r stepper motor; r&r fuel temp sensor; r& r fuel pump?

Other things to consider are: ARB Safari Snorkel with K&N filter are installed; PowerChips (Australia ) installed in ECU; headers; new coil packs; new ignition wires; new IAT sensor; new MAF sensor, new VSS; new engine temp sensor.

One final query = how do you reset the "closed throttle voltage" for the tps?

That's all for now;
Wolf
