Egr?

Hi again folks, two things first EGR, how easy is it to do blank and do you need the hose? iv seen a few cheap ones on ebay. 300tid Disco if you remove the cat and put in the pipe (also cheap on ebay) does this affect the mot at all? or do either of these things affect the emissions at all for MOT? Thanks

if ya but them off ebay there is a kit form on there somewhere and yes you get thr hose with it for around £17 but soak the bolts for at least a week prior to removeing it does make a great difference

To start with I used a blanking plate between the manifold and the egr valve to make sure it works ... keeps all the plumbing 'standard'. After running it for a few weeks and noting the power increase I removed the whole gubbins and added a top hose. The difference again, with a slightly wider bore top hose, is noticeable.

My problem now is that the power is so nice I now have a heavy right foot and higher fuel consumption! ... I'm learning thobut ...

Mind ... I've also de-catted the front pipe ... now that does give a very noticeable power boost.

A 300tdi disco is old enough that it missed all the emissions crap that started in 2000 so removing the EGR and CAT won't make any difference for the MOT but I believe there is a smoke test so give it a good blast to clear it out before you get her tested.

The boy i called also said to clean out the intake with petrol apparently it makes a difference too. Like i say ill be waiting for the delivery rubbing my hands. Thanks again

Did mine last weekend. I left the EGR valve there and just put the blanking plate where it connects to the pipe that goes up to the input for the engine (need longer bolts 35mm long will give you abit of thread coming out the other end) just after the intercooler, then I scraped all the crap from the pipes and it pulls better in lower revs, much nicer to drive and where before this in top gear 3k on the revs was 70mph and I had to force it to do this, now 3K on the revs is 80 mph and it's completley happy doing it.

Just going through my first full tank after doing it and hoping to see more miles from it. Fingers crossed
