Depends who is asking ?
Right have just ordered a EGR kit form fleabay, anyone got a photograph as to where it goes, i,ve read the ultimate EGR guide, just want a pic of its location.

Feel free to shout abuse at me if its a stupid request.

Thanks for that, had a look. Is it necessary to remove all of the egr and pipe, and replace with a new pipe like the one Devon 4x4 sell for £50, or can you just blank it off at the manifold and leave the egr hanging there.

Steve

Its alright have just read another post somewhere that you just slip the blanking plate in between the end of the egr pipe and the manifold then tighten all back up.
All makes sense now.

Whist i,m here is there any other improvement if you remove the whole system completely ?

It helps a little, but just fitting the plate completely stops exhaust gas from polluting the nice fresh air the engine prefers to breathe.

The engine will feel brighter, and the fuel consumption will be a lot better.

Thanks for that Charles, think i,ll save the £50 (for the pipe) and spend it in the pub.

Thanks all.

Steve

My TD5 Disco got just the plate at 20k miles, and goes like a dream since.
It passed MoT last week on a 50-50 derv/Bio mix and the man said it was the lowest emissions he had ever seen.

One day I will get round to ripping the whole EGR stuff out.

Brilliant!
You'll save the £13 on the first tank of fuel because it will go about 20% further every gallon.
