Hi all

just wondered, once i have taken the valve off and fitted blanking plate and new top hose to i just take the valve off completely and tie the wiring to it up out the way or trace it back and remove the whole system ??

cheers

tony

Not sure what youre on with here.
If you are fiting the £3 blanking plate you just remove the 2 alen bolts slide in blank and tighten up. No valve removal or wireing problems.
10 mins on non aircon 20 on aircon a bit tighter fit.
come back if ive got wrong end of stick

Hi yeas i have bought 2 blanking plates one for where the unit bolts to the engine and one for the top pipe, that way i can take the whole egr valve off and out the way

I would just leave it all there, you never know you might want to undo the mod at some point. Don't have to worry about finding all the parts.
As was said earlier if you have electrical connectors loose, double bag them and spray a small amount wd-40 then zip tie them closed.

Protects from rusty connectors

The way I did mine (lazy way really) was to blank off after the valve (ensuring that the valve is intact!!) and then remove the old pipework and fit new top hose, as per the attached pictures.

I did it this way as I had tried to get the manifold bolts undone to remove the valve itself and they wouldn't budge. I was concerned that if I started hitting it with a big hammer (my usual next step!!) that the bolts would break off and be left in the manifold, which I DID NOT WANT

See attached piccies:
