egr removal kit.any good? what does it do?

have been surfing various sites and have come accross the egr removal kit
what exactly does this do and is it for specific engines?
i have a 1988 90 2.5td ...ta

i believe its onn 300TDi and TD5's. remove it.

EGR stands fer egghaust gas recirculator and sends the egghaust gasses back trhu the turbo to try and reduce emissions. but it weren't fitted till 300tdi's came out.

and even then, some early 300's dont have the EGR or cat. converter
