Just done the EGR blank on my 96 300tdi.

2 questions:
It does get removed straight off the manifold?
How do I remove the intercooler to clean it? (Already looks clean)
Should my turbo now be making a slight sucking noise?

Will upload pics later to verify.

Also found a weird dial at the side of my battery with a wire unplugged coming straight off one of the terminals. Is this a standard or after market thing?

Going to be a lost per pic. Old phone that doesn't like morethan one.

It is behind the passengers head light. Follwed the thin tube back to it and pushed it on.

you could do or i just fit a b;lank between valve and manifold and leave everything else in place, if you undo the 4 bolts holding top frame over rad you can lift cooler out
dial will be for an after market electric fan

I did try lifting it out. But it wouldn't move more than half inch. And didn't want to rag it, and break it.

Would it be best to reconnect it?

Still have no idea what it is or what it does.

Should there be a switch in the the cab somewhere for it?
If i do plug it in will it be running all the time, when it gets hot or on a secret switch?

depends how it's wired up.

your viscous will be gone and you'll have a leccy fan instead on your rad.

the dial bit will contain gubbins which will power the fan off and on depending on the temp (hence the dial bit, to set the temp)

people also usually stick an override button in the cab to stick it on as well.

Al have a look tomorrow in the light.

Is the turbo meant to be making a sucking noise now the EGR isn't there?

I have checked a re checked all the pipes and plate. It was making the noise. Then it suddenly stopped.

My totally uneducated guess would be not.

Since.it is still stopping the exhaust gases from getting to the intercooler.
