Just removed the EGR valve and pipe from our Discovery. Got a kit off e-bay. Having read a lot on the forum about it and some people saying it didn't make any difference and others saying it did. I went with the logic that pure air being drawn into the engine must have an effect. Well what a difference! Much more power and a bit more MPG to boot. Definitely worth doing!!

I have got the kit ready for the change,BUT !! I asked my insurance broker if removing the EGr was classed as a "modification" he contacted my insurer ( Chaucer ) who stated it was classed as a modification and that they accept no modifications whatsoever and my insurance would be null and viod if I went ahead !!!So I am going to wait untill insurance is up for renewal and ask for quote with and without the EGR cause I want it OUT of my TD5 !!!!

Totally agree. Was getting about 530 - 540 miles out of a full tank before blanking. Now it feels more responsive and I'm getting around 580 out of the tank in mixed motorway/urban driving.

But do check with insurers as you don't want to be left high and dry. I still reckon the savings on fuel are worth the extra premium as I do over 25K miles per annum.
