Sorry to put this here but seemed like the most appropriate place. Had loads of help from you guys here with my landy so was hoping for some help with my other halfs car.
She owns a Honda accord 2.2Tdi which we had some problems with a little while back. The car lost all it power and went into limp mode with the ecu light showing on the dash. After many trips to lots of different garages the conclusion was that the EGR valve was nackered. After removing this from the car and cleaning it up the symptoms were no better. The car then went into Honda who said that the turbo had gone even though none of the symptoms that the car was showing would lead to this.
We bit the bullet and had the turbo replaced at a stupid price which has solved the issues we had with the car and it now runs pretty much ok apart from having very poor power low down in the rev range. It pulls lovely as soon as the boost comes in but pulling off from roundabouts and junctions really is slow.
I have a funny feeling that either the EGR valve nackered at the same time as the turbo or me fiddling with it has maybe stuffed it up.
If I pull the electical wires out of the EGR will the car then run without it and should run as normal again??? I know this will pop a light up on the dash but I just want to find out if the EGR is working properly. They are bloody expensive for this car and dont want to replace it if the problem is not going to go away. Is there any other way to find out if the EGR is working as it shoud do??
Sorry for the long post and really hope someone can help me as I dont want her causing an accident where she cant get the car to pull away quick eneough.
Regards
Adam
