I have bought a straight through mid section and a EGR delete product to fit to my D2 - but the EGR delete doesn't have one of those little black pipe covers to go on the vacuum pipe.

What would be a reliable alternative - as I understand that this needs to be blanked off so not to effect braking ability

Cheers

Hi @jimmies

I used a self tapping screw and some sealant into the blue pipe.

Make sure your X member bolts come off, Mine was welded in place by the PO. Also penetrating oil / plus gas is your friend.

Cheers

I have also used a screw -

I've removed the ERG and all the bolts came off nice and easily thankfully - but it was thick with black oily paste inside, the intake area was also covered. I've cleaned out what I could with a cloth but it still has loads of black gunk in there. The sensor on the top of the intake manifold was also completely covered.

I haven't been able to go out yet but I guess that removing this egr show make some difference as I cannot believe it was functioning properly in the state it is in

Don't expect any "knock your socks off" improvements in performance just by removing the EGR valve, it just allows cleaner air into the engine.
The sensor on the inlet manifold is the MAP/IAT sensor. That's Manifold Air Pressure and Inlet Air Temperature. It's a combined sensor. There should be a load on the forum about cleaning the MAP sensor, it's a little more robust than the MAF sensor in the line between the air filter box and the turbocharger, but care is still required when cleaning it not to cause any damage.
There is also quite a bit on the forum about cleaning out the inlet manifold, but basically it involves removing it and washing it out with a solvent and letting it dry before replacing it.
