So I recently had mine in for MOT and mentioned upcoming rules regarding the EGR and deletes... I asked about passing and failing, the guy who does tests said something which just gave me an idea... "if you can see it".

MOT testers aren't meant to remove anything from the car, so I'm thinking why not make some kind of shroud which hides the EGR delete completely... what can't be seen can't be commented on. Obviously the shroud would have be done well and done smart so it at least looks like it belongs there itself.

Thoughts?

Must be about the sixth time, and there are several threads about it that I missed. o_O

I never really understand why they can't just leave the cats and EGRs where they are, would seem to be a lot less hassle.
thanks for the link, but 5 paages in and not much talk of EGR. I got my car with the EGR already done... thanks.

That’s what i thought and indeed alot easier linking it with all the details

I’ve left both my egrs in place , just put a thin blank plate in and removed the butterfly , sorted :)

I think your questions are fully discussed in the thread. There are no simple answers, it is down to what the individual tester will do.
The law is quite clear, the cat, and the EGR, should be fitted, and working.
How that will translate within a one hour MOT appointment, at a private garage that may not want to offend it's customers, will vary.

I don't think you quite grasped the point of my first post and I didn't ask any questions.

I probably didn't. Maybe because I am not interested, and it has been discussed ad nauseam already.

Gary and I were discussing what constitutes a cover on about page 18, but you didn't bother to read that far.

well it seems you lot can't keep on topic. maybe you should have been kind enough to say something in your first post here instead of just arrogantly posting a link.

Ah sod it, I’ll include 3 x covers just for the sake of it ;):D

Nobody keeps on topic on LZ, and in fact, we have been discussing your query, not anything else. And the link I posted is a lengthy discussion of exactly what you asked for. Peoples thoughts on the subject of whether modifications that cannot be easily seen will pass the new MOT regulations.

Shirly if you design and manufacture a non-standard cover of some sort, you're just gonna make the tester suspicious? Or are they not that bovvered?
