egr bypass

having read with interest each post re the egr replacement it seems that it is a good idea. Unfortunately the threads get confusing in places and I would like clarity.
1.Is it a SAFE mod. 2. Are emissions affected in any way. 3.How many years/miles have others tested the mod. That in my opinion is the acid test.

My opinion,

Fitted last september done around 5000 miles, no side affects and runs smoother, does affect the emmisions but not so it will fail the M.O.T, mine sailed through the M.O.T last november and still going strong.
Hope this helps

1. the mod is completely safe. (as long it is installed properly with due dilligence, if a bit falls off and into the inner workings, then probably not safe)
2. It does affect the emmissions, with raised levels of whatever it was designed to get rid of. However, this will not affect the MOT levels on a diesel as it based on particulates which are not affected.
3. there are loads and loads of peeps on the forum who have carried out this mod, next on me list of things to do.

Hi i put in the egr bypass and i have covered about 20,000 miles no ill effects and a noticable difference in running just about to put one in my dads freelander too
