just seen your other post with 300 tdi just put a blank thin metal plate between egr valve and manifold ,should be secured with x 6mm allen bolts often helps to hit with large punch,to free bolts first ,dont need a kit or to remove anything else, stops loss of boost if valve leaks and stops inlet manifold coking up

it stops you loosing performance but you really dont need kit,you will loose some efficiency as inlet manifolds cokes up

I bow to jamesmartins superior knowledge, but, unless you've got a wee workshop and a bit of spare metal and stuff, a kit is pretty cheap and includes all the bits you need, which makes it's a ten minute job. Just spray up your nuts a day before and take it easy.:)

did mine on a td5. cant say i noticed any difference. so can only presume that my egr valve was`nt restricting perfoemance. as jamesmartin says it will stop you losing performance if it isnt working properly.

I'm going to be doing mine in the near future (D2 td5). On looking at it, I have one question. Where does the vacuum pipe on top of the EGR go when the EGR goes (I am only assuming it's a vacuum pipe) ?

did mine a couple of days ago (fender TD5) I wen for a kit myself but only because i wanted it to look neat and tidy.

I had a right battle with one bolt, the one thats lowest down and closest to the manifold. Just would be wouldnt it :mad: Some **** had been in there before and rounded it out. And you cant get in there easy with the fan and the copper pipe in the way.

Got it sorted eventually. You can get the £10 kits or the £45 kits. I went for the middle of the road option from the bay and it works a treat. I was blowing out loads of black smoke and it seems to have sorted that.

Go for it, just look at the black crap in the pipe when its removed. And think about that **** going back into your engine, cant be good!

Matt
