Car been running great since service yesterday. Drove about 25 miles in the rain, stopped maybe 10 minutes, got back in the car, drove away then realised all the eas lights on. Not flashing. Checked ride height, it was normal but the message centre showed eas fault 35 mpg max. Car not on bump stops. Drove to garage turned off talked to mechanic, back in car started fine, lights still on but car still in normal height. this time message Key Battery Low. Tried other key, same message. Got home car still in normal height but this time when I turned off compressor kept going for a short time (maybe 2 minutes) Scary!!
Any ideas chaps.
Bill

Smee agin. Fault (dunno what it was) cleared by Hawkeye!
Still would like some feedback on what the gathered knowledgeable brethren think, but at least my lovely rangie seems to be back to normal. I will be carrying hawkeye with me in future!

Mine did this too then all sorts of other things it was the fuse box under the bonnet it had corroded not saying it is def the problem but worth a look that and look at what your alternator is putting out

listen for the pump running on the EAS mine was so bad in the end I had to pop bonnet and kill power to it also wouldnt stop even with the eas software plugged in - also developed odd starting when warm

Thanks all. I will look at the points you have made, when the rain stops! Trouble is I am up to my eyes in it with getting rid of my Disco and repairing my Biodiesel plant. Might find something tonight when the new rear airbags are fitted, not too hopeful tho'

Had it serviced yesterday, oil/fuel filters, gearbox filter/tf, k&n air filter and pollen filters. Steering and suspension bushes checked and oil seal in transfer box. Drove it home and out to town today - car was transformed, then this! Very confusing.
Ridesafe; It has been raining and there are plenty puddles, so poss. Battery seems fine, starts straight away on the button.
Keith; How do you know/check height sensors?
Sandy; what did the fault turn out to be on yours?

mine was the fuse box they live in a very harsh environment and corrode internally when I striped it out the board is a sandwich pin soldered all along one edge but once in I had over 20 dry joints where the solder had corroded and cracked I put a new one in from the stealer for less than 150 quid I think but it is a well documented problem - at first I thought it was the becm .

When it happens again read the fault codes with the rsw software (or your Hawkeye if it will do it), fair odds it will show a sensor fault, they don't like the wet when they start to fail:eek:

I reckon you could be on the money there Keith, I had just driven thro' rural lanes with loads of puddles so quite likely got a good splashing. Do you reckon it might be worth spraying them with a waterproofer when it is dry? Maybe give them a going over with something like servisol.

You could try a silicone grease spray, but if the "O" rings have failed on the shaft as they had on mine, nothing is going to stop the water getting in. Sooner or later like me you will have to replace a duff one.

Is it possible this might be what is causing the car to drop down to varying degrees over night? (rather than a small leak)

Yes, if the sensor is giving erratic readings, the EAS will try to adjust to those readings. The only way you will really know will be to read the faults next time it fails:D
