I've seen pleanty of posts on how to do it and I'm now at the end of my tether with fault finding the poor starting.

How have people that have done the conversion found the change?

I am slowly picking up the courage to convert mine. Mine is currently very slow and never ever thows out any smoke so I think it is underfueled. Great fuel consumption figures but it is very frustrating when doing it struggles to get to 70 and the slighest incline makes the needle head back towards 60. Tried a performance chip and it made no difference!! My thinking is that a manual pump that can be adjusted and a bigger intercooler must be better than it currrently is. So watching this thread with interest!!

Did you change the injectors??

A well tuned 2/300 tdi have plenty of power if done correctly,

1st things I'd do, give the thing a good service, fuel filter and sedimenter at the back, fresh air filter, could have the biggest pump in the world if there blocked it won't get enough fuel,

Fit a boost gauge and check it making full boost, check the throttle cable is achieving full movement, water gate could be stuck open or not moving fully, split in a boost pipe? Delaminated boost pipe?

Once you are 100% everything is correct then maybe look at changing the fuel pump,

Have done the conversion yet. To busy fighting the tin work at the moment. When I've finished spending almost the purchase price of the car on repair panels I'll look to do it.

I'm tempted to recon the injectors but I may just be throwing money away.

I'm planning to go overlanding in it next year so want it as reliable as possible.

Not done it yet, now have the pump, pipes and injectors. EDC injectors are not the same as mechanical pump. I know what you mean about the tin worm as have to deal with a few issues before the next MOT in Feb. I like the idea of being as mechanical rather then electornis as possible. Got the family Merc off the road at the moment and had to used the 300tdi this week for so clocke up 1000miles this wek without issue much to the Other Halfs surprise!!
