bulkhead is your best bet i think in a 90.

If you stick it on the roof or on the seatbelt mounts and you roll it into a puddle while off roading then your fu*ked.

When i get around to it, thats where mine will be going i feel.

I have been looking at doing this for some time too, and this is probably a stupid question, but how do you waterproof the joint/connection between the existing ECU plug and the new extension cable, as surely if you get water ingress on this, it is just the same as getting water onto the actual ECU??

Pass, will let you know when i've fitted it.

I've put mine in the dash and bolted it to the angled plate that supports the vents keeps it dry and safe ill post a picture up when I'm next down my shed

what if you go through deep water, Ive had water upto the bottom of the screen, there was plenty coming through the dash then !
Back of cubby box, on bulkhead behind seats ? I would keep it off the sides just incase you lay it on its side in a puddle, it would only need to be a few inches deep to cause problems.

How longs the cable, can you leave it at home ;)

My mate moved his to behind the drivers seat, then put it inside a sandwhich box which has clamps on all 4 sides.

He bunged a load of silicone on the hole where the wires enter the box and that seems to have held up, it's been totally submerged several times and no problems yet ;)

this is how mine got sorted (the man to speak to is mad hat man )

The fact the ECU is in an aluminium housing will help disipate the heat it does generate though. Not that buckshot isnt right, you will just have to keep on top of it and make sure its still intact every so often.

The guy who replied on the devon thread(for those that dont know) is a successful challenge truck driver/owner. He owns a certain company that modify warn 8274 winches for a giggle! ;) so i would say he knows what he is talking about. :)
