eberspacher night heater help!

Hello all,

I fancy fitting one of these to my 110, its an ex electricity company landy and has loads of side lockers so was going to fit it in one of these. Thing is though i have noo experience with these at all. Do they have a seperate fuel supply or do they run off the vehicles tank?

They run off diesel. Unless you've got a petrol engine, why fit an extra fuel tank? You're already carrying a big tank of the stuff!

Got one in my 90 it runs on the diesel tank on board it has been brill this winter.
If you go off roading though turn it off, been in mine for 3 years no problems run it a couple of times in the summer just to give it a run

Its a Td5 so Diesel. Is it a bugger to run furl to it from the tank or does it all come as a kit?

td5 pumps have the take off for a heater already...its normally just capped off if you dont have one.

when i was looking i looked at hydronic 5 models...but then i spent the money on me roof rack and havent bothered since!

answer to fitting, sorry didnt fit it fitted for me they are a great bit of kit though if you get the chance fit one

they are not all diesel. some are petrol and they come in 12v and 24v options to.

There is a Plethora of info out there on these as they are widely used in the HGVs, boats, canalboats, campers, 4x4s etc. some places will sell kits, others parts, they can be expensive in kit form though (but then you have no worries fitting it).

My TD5 pump has a nipple (blanked off) on the top of the pump, I simply cut the blanking bit off and slipped a bit of fuel pipe onto the nipple. One thing tho' I was fitting the pump to the defender as a replacement for a faulty one, and I noticed that it didn't have a pipe on the inside of the tank for actually picking the fuel up. On my replacement pump, there is a groove in the body of the pump (I guess it was designed for this purpose) and I fitted a small piece of pipe into that and onto the bottom end of the blanked off nipple. Obviously, this means having to take your pump out of the tank, but it is worth it.

Originally (in an astra van) I just used a 5lt fuel can with a hole drilled in the cap for a rubber pipe to go through and the cap screwed on just loose enough to allow a little air to bleed in, next (in a peugeot partner) I bought an Eberspacher fuel pick-up pipe (ebay) which I fitted to a knackered bottle thing I had - this worked very well for me for a long time. The separate tank had the added advantage of being able to run the heater on red gas oil which I could get a little from work - they use so little fuel that the running costs don't come into it tho'.

Well as you got the lockers , all you'll have to do is run power to the locker and have a seperate tank in he same locker ( if theres enough room ) . When I fitted mine I just used a metal 5ltr can ( Thinners tin ) and solderd a length of brake pipe into it for a fuel pick up .
Works a treat + you can run it on red diesel then . There ace bits of kit and you wont be disapointed when you fire it up , toasty .
