Evening all,
Anyone going to Eastnor Landrover Show? I've been before, but I was young and don't remember too much of it. However I have my own land rover now (1989 defender 90, disco 200tdi conv, rough looking, as a landy should be! But loved workhorse and plaything), and was wondering if the off road course is a worthwhile expense? I love virtually all offloading - but don't want to crawl down some gravel tracks...

Cheers, Zach.

At eastnor you go in convoy with one of the Landrover Experience vehicles leading. so crawl is the right word. BUT!! it is the landrover testing ground for all landrovers, so it's got that "historical" aspect to it. If that sort of thing joggles ya bones..

That sounds like fun and Eastnor is not far from me, (30 mins in a just smashed up but tuned VX luxobarge) did the experience and replaced said written off car (thanks BMWs ****ty alloys) with a D2.

I will see if Darren at work will go as well.

3 hour drive for me, driving up with my dad, and he's in a series one towing a trailer tent, so it's gonna be a slow drive! Gonna stay the weekend and hopefully grab some bargains as well! :D

If Darren my friend takes his D1 kit car, he only goes about 40 to 50, so he can leave before me!

Since my D2 can do straight lines and corners I will be fine :p

haha my landy surprised me with its road handling abilities - not driven a disco, but I've had a go in my dads S1 and I don't know how he drives it over 35 haha. I had a little suzuki sj before my defender which liked to cock its rear wheel when corning :p I love having permanent 4wd - you can see why the bowler is an awesome rally car

Apart from a bit of bump steer the handling is pretty good, first time I have owned anything not pure RWD for so long I cannot remember.

I have a morbid fear of torque steer caused by delivering an Astra GTE around 30 years ago. Noticed none on any live axle LRs.

Even my hot hatch era was in a UK built Chrysler.

Haha - I've not driven anything with enough power to produce torque steer. My landys got the biggest engine I've insured by a whole 1.2 litres - and by far the most torque haha.
Bloody expensive insurance. I wanted a mk2 escort when I was 17 for some RWD fun... but insurance was about 3000 so that idea went out the window and a bought a £40 mk2 golf. Never enjoyed anything as much as my land rover though - would have had one when I was 17 but was way out my price range then. :p

Well I have owned 8 cars and only one was WWD, 6 RWD, 1 4WD

200bhp on RWD doesn't phase me at all but 120 on the front was scarey.

My Sunbeam ran a tuned 1600 and handled like a rally car!

Got back from eastnor landy show yesterday. Was really surprised how easy the 4 hour drive was in my landy! Happily chugged the 100 odd miles there and back no trouble.

Not been for a few years but was quite a quiet show! Only took half a days wandering/rootling around to cover the whole place!
I did the 'adventure' off road experience which was fun, but not near 'adventure-y' enough for me!!
