EAS Pump rings. Are these any good?

As long as the bore in the piston chamber isn't scored or worn then it's definitely worth while doing - as long as you take your time and follow the instructions exactly

for £80 nearly 2 years ago i changed the piston inc seal, crank assembly and new bore too! it came as a complete kit! i have heard of the seals only being hard to fit to the point where they damaged in the process.

I've now fitted the above seal glad i did as mine was torn in 1 area although it still worked ok! bore was in perfect condition so hope all stays well. I have one question tho,if i leave my car over night it does not drop suggesting no air leaks. If i drop to access mode when i come to it in the morning it takes about 1-2 minutes to rise is this normal?or have i got a leak between the tank and eas block?

A comon place for leaks is the drier in front of the EAS unit try testing the connection for leaks as a leak here will empty the tank over a period of time.

I have not tried the version of the repair kit you are asking about but have used the one from P38 spares in Oxford, available on the net or from ebay and as long as you follow his excellent instuctions you should nat have any problems.

Don't forget to clean the inlet filter while you are at it.
This and the sound absorbtion bushes may be cheaper from your local LR dealer.

Today I just fitted one of these rings and also a new inlet filter.

I can't say as I've noticed any improvement in the 5 minutes I had the engine running but at least it's not worse. My original yellow seal was not visibly worn, but it had a couple of indentations around the perimeter, which couldn't have helped.

£25 (inc postage) for a glorified O ring seemed a bit steep, but at least It's something I can forget about for a while.

i had a brand new pump in my shed which the seal had cooked in when the pump relay decided to throw the towel in so, i bought on of these seals it came very quickly , and it fitted a treat , childs play in fact , i tested the pump and it worked perfectly .
i wouldn`t hesitate to recommend these seals i now have a virtually new pump as a spare .
rick.

When you hold it in your hand, for £20 it does seem a tad expensive, but it's the cheapest way of extending the life of your pump, and isn't difficult to fit.
