Hi
My local garage is great about me popping in to use their kit to reset my EAS faults for free on my 2000 P38. I believe you can buy a plug in that resets or overrides the EAS fault, can anyone advise what to buy and from where?
Thanks

The EAS Buddy is Great...but won't let you recalibrate should it be necssary....

Datatek (member on here) can supply the Lead and EAS Unlock Software for about £20 (With the Posting) all you need is a laptop and Serial/USB lead. This will let you recalibrate the system, perform diagnostic functions and read live Height Sensor Values (I think) whereas the Buddy Box and Kicker don't, they just reset the system and IIRC the Buddy Box can log the fault codes for further reading once it is plugged into a computer!

You can get the EAS Buddy Box from RSW Solutions www.rswsolutions.com

Or there is a similar one from Blackbox Solutions.....called the EAS Kicker Blackbox Solutions Ltd - Designers and manufacturers of the best vehicle diagnostic tools.

Hi Datatek are you suggesting that no plug ins are worthwhile or just the software version?

Just the EAS Buddy or EAS kicker. If you have a laptop, you are better with the free EAS software from RSW solutions and a cable. Much cheaper and gives you full diagnostics for the EAS.

Whats your opinion of the kicker keith?
Iv'e always thought it was a good bit of kit to be fair, BLOODY EXPENSIVE to buy new (i got mine secondhand off here although it was still sealed) and that can read and clear faults and read and edit all 16 height settings, its exactly the same set-up as simelisep38 (simon) uses on ebay to diagnose customers cars.i just like the fact i can keep it in the glove box 24hrs a day and its there if i need it when on our travels with the caravan..i know price wise the kicker is a bit steep but how does the laptop version stand? Is that more accurate with the readings you get? with the info in the how to section by you and wammers and my kicker i thought i was onto a winner

For instance can you Depressurise the air safely,Test run your air compressor .
You also have the ability of live data ie check for brake pedel switch thermo switch door switches and all associated functions including opening and closing valves I'd say that would be far more of an advantage .

You can indeed depressurise with the RSW software and run the compressor, The other functions you mention are only with Faultmate or Nanocom.

The Kicker is fine, just too expensive compared to £11 for the lead and software that does more. You can pick up a second hand laptop/netbook for £50 to keep in the car on which you can also have a copy of RAVE and have WiFi access if you need more help. Can't do that with a kicker.:)

Yes with yours you still get live data and other functions I presume like running pump and checking thermo switch ect ??

With mine? The software is RSW solutions which you can download free.
The only thing that resembles live data is "get sensor heights" but it's a one time read not live fluctuating data.
Live data is not required in any case, the system is too simple to need it unlike the L322.
If you want live data, buy a Faultmate, although I'm not sure if even that shows live data, I didn't waste my money on that module as the RSW software is good enough.
Thermo switch you check with a DVM.

I see I've never used that system my bad, I thought it had the functions that the nano has you watch the valves ect working as you rise the car live. But in saying that the other is just as good combined with the how to inthis section . I'd say for a person starting out with a p38 its a god send if needed but for a keeper of said car nano/ faultmate all the way the long run cost savings would be move beneficial

True, but the discussion was about the pro's and con's of an EAS kicker compared to the RSW software, on price there is no contest.

Totally agree with price keith! the kicker is around £180 + delivery iirc i wouldnt buy a brand new 1 for it to sit in glove box forever,i got mine cheaper but still a lot of money sitting doing nout, only good thing as i say is it takes no room up and gets its power from the socket and always at hand in emergency..As for the nanocom,me with a gadget that can change the way the car runs!! have you seen some mothers do have them :) enough said lol

Datatek, I'm a little confused, do you supply the lead and rsw supplys the free software? People are saying to PM you if lead and software are needed. Looking at the rsw website it is obvious where to download the software, but I cannot see where to buy a pre-made lead from. Have you got a link for the lead or can you supply?

Regards Clive

Datatek supplies both. He will also supply RAVE and a how to guide for air bag replacement!

RSW doesnt supply the lead!

I make cables just for Landyzone members, with the cable I supply a CD with the RSW solutions software to save you doing the download + a copy of RAVE covering P38, Defender and early L322 + my airbag replacement guide all for the princely sum of £11 plus P&P:)

Sounds fab Datatek, how do i make payment to you and how much in total? I live in Boston, Lincoilnshire in the UK.

Regards Clive
