My P38's Xmas present to me ... popping up road on Xmas day to visit parents... all EAS lights came-on and wagon gradually dropped onto bump stops !!... did notice for a couple of days previous that wagon was dropping overnight onto bumpstops. Have read Datatek's 'How to' post..Have checked compressor today and it is working though wagon still on bumpstops... just turned 77,000 miles on original bags with visible cracking at folds...Time to change all 4 airbags I think ?

Mine has done 80k and had visible cracking on the rear bags so I had them changed as a precaution. Once the bags were off I could see how bad they actually were. On the side facing the front of the car the rubber had totally split and bits of the inner metal wiring, etc were showing!

Change all when you have the time (it's not hard (rust permitting))
Anyone know which wear faster, fronts or rears?

I note that these are offered for 1995 onward. I wonder if that was when the plastic caps were introduced? Certainly having heard some of the issues that some guys have had getting old ally caps out of their seats I'd be suspicious.

Have you read the other "How to" that goes through compressor checks and guides you to cause of failure?
Only got round to looking at issue today..started RR and hey presto up she went to normal ride height within a minute or two !... though all lights still on and EAS FAULT showing in dash... Plugged in Diagnostics - two error codes came up as follows: F810 RL Signal incorrect + FC08 RR Valve stuck closed ... any idea what these mean ?
ps: cleared fault codes and all warning lights now off - EAS now functioning as it should be... bewildered I am...

Yes, you have a fault on the Rear right sensor. If the ECU demands a valve to be opened, to inflate or deflate a bag, and the sensor reading does not change on that corner within a set time period, then it assumes the valve is stuck shut. It will then throw a hard fault and shut down the system to prevent damage.

Thanks Wammers. for the prompt post.. will try another sensor on right rear...

May just need the plug cleaning that goes into the sensor. If you can waggle the spindle that goes into the sensor about odds on it has water in it. Only cure a new unit.

RL is Rear Left sensor reading incorrect RR is as Wammers said also a sensor problem, I'd look at the connectors on both and also the connectors in the EAS box especially the ones under the block.:)
