EAS moving with doors open

Just a quick one - the suspension is not supposed to move when doors are open but mine does. Can open the drivers door - courtesy lights come on but suspension will move. Same for other doors, tailgate or bonnet.

Incidently the courtesy lighting will not come on when the passenger door is opened. From looking up the board this is most likely the microswitch in the door lock which I will get to another day.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem?

When you say the suspension moves, do you mean it drops? Can you hear the solenoids operating in the valve block? Maybe you have a leak.

No - I can open the door engine started, stand out and control the EAS up and down functions with the door open.

This is not an EAS fault, its a BECM problem. If it doesn't know the doors are open it won't inhibit the EAS. Or it does know but isn't able to send the signal to the EAS. If you try to drive with a door or tailgate open do you get a warning in the dash? Then the BECM does know but isn't able to tell the EAS. If you don't get the signal then the BECM is not getting the message from the outstations. I'd start with removing and cleaning (with a NON-RESIDUE contact cleaner!!!) all the connectors to the BECM and to EAS ECU.

I'd count myself lucky that your suspension goes up and down most peoples doesn't work with the doors closed roflol

I had a sneaking suspicion that the BeCM may be the fault, but however if I do drive with a door, bonnet or tailgate open, I get the warning on the dash. Ill try give the contact cleaning a go and see what happens.

P38 prius - Oh I do count myself lucky but part of that luck was a lot of work checking and replacing less than optimal items!!!

I had this problem with just one door. I could open the front passenger door and the interior light would not come on and no alert in the message centre to say the door was open. Also could operate EAS height control with that door open. The problem was the door lock and was easy to fix with a new lock. The other symptom was that all the doors would randomly lock and unlock very fast while driving. All this went away when I change the lock in that door.
As you know when you open a door you get a message in the message centre telling you which door is open. To clarify then I'd suggest you systematically open each door in turn and check the message centre.
Do some still work and others not? If so I'd reason that the door locks are faulty rather than the BECM. P38 door locks do fail and can give the faults you describe.

I'd start by fixing the door lock before you touch the BECM.
Then, unless it's necessary, I'd still leave the BECM alone.

If all the doors produce a message on the message centre when open the BECM is receiving the info, so the problem should lie in the communication between the BECM and the EAS ECU.
