If the USB drivers for your adaptor are not compatable with your version of windows, the EAS software can appear to sync but the feed back can just be from the adaptor itself.

Ive a feeling that it was faulty cos it an ebay adapter think it was about £3 but wanted to check by subsituting with know working items

Some of the USB adaptors on Ebay are not a full implementation of the RS232 protocol, in particular the RTS signal is missing so they will never work and on some the voltage on the serial side is 5 volts instead of +/-12 volts,

Ive just finished work and im now sat in works carpark writing this
the fault has gone???
Didnt know it could self clear!
is it because it was only a soft fault or could it be a warning something expensive is about to spit its dummy out

A soft fault can reset, often caused by a height sensor giving a duff reading.

Mmmm that probably be the rear left then as it often drops overnight! but I once had a fault on my door lock which made it think the door was open ie. Freezes the eas and it didnt drop so not a leak!
Would it have logged this mornings fault or does it not store soft faults?
