hello chaps,

decided to procrastinate this morning and have a fiddle with the EAS software while I had access to a windows laptop.

well, did the procedure, ignition in position 2, plug in, start program and got a whole bunch of error messages and odd calibration readings. i could not also get it to change heights when it was plugged in, but afterwards, all ok!

bare in mind it seems to be working all ok and the heights are adjusting fine and in time, what do you think i should do, could they be old errors from before the last owner had it replaced or is it just me being useless?

values are....

what you all think?

I'd clear the faults then run the car around for a few days then recheck to see if any return.

If you have recorded faults after that then maybe it's worth going further with an investigation.

LW...

i will give that a try later then I think, as I said, no issues at all! is clearing the faults relatively simple through the program?

cheers for the advice,

tommy

ah no, it wasnt displaying good idle, it kept flickering., all doors and tailgate firmly closed, how do you manage the good idle sign, am i supposed to have the engine on or keep it in position 2?

sorry for the silly questions.

tommy

no once i found the right com port there was no error message at all.

i will make sure the engine is on later when i give it a try and see if the same codes come through and the same readings. thanks for the advice.

You don't have to have engine running just ignition switched on. Only advantage of running engine is that compressor will run if you get low on air doing settings. With just ignition on you have to top up manually through EASunlock.

i will try it with the engine running then, but if i am honest i am a bit worried about fecking it up if it all seems to be working.

how do i make sure i get a good idle?

If you are using a laptop with a USB adaptor you need the correct drivers for the adaptor. I have an ACER with USB adaptor and have never got it to work yet. But my diagnostic unit, an old DELL with serial port, works first time every time.

ill try it on my housemates laptops and the usb i think and see what happens when i am back in norwich, dont want to bugger it, if not ebay myself a laptop that i can plug into directly, can only be handy!!

I found that if i start my laptop then start the car and plug in the leads and usb to serial adapter. only then launch the eas software, choose comm port 4 from the menu, then it works every time. not doing it in that order causes all sorts of problems..
hope this helps .

Try a different com port, when i first had a go i thort i was setup right but good idle was flickering, change comport to the correct one with good idle continuously green and all was good.
